Digital TV to Reach 50% Worldwide Penetration by 2013

Half of all households worldwide (636 million) will receive digital TV signals by 2013, according to a recent forecast by Informa Telecoms and Media.
67 million homes will sign up for digital TV this year, bringing the global total to 343 million (a global penetration rate of 24%), and another 62 million will be added in 2009.
Cable companies will be the leading digital TV carriers in 2013, serving 290 million homes, followed by direct-to-home satellite (with 129 million), digital terrestrial television (111 million), IPTV (54 million), and freesat (51 million).
