Shaumburg, Illinois-based mobile phone giant, Motorola Inc., has filed a lawsuit against Canadian rival, Research In Motion, claiming that the BlackBerry maker is stealing its employees.
Motorola claims that RIM has targeted at least 40 of its workers since February, and that these workers would not be able to switch companies without revealing trade secrets.
“Motorola is threatened with losing customers, employees, technology, its competitive advantage, its trade secrets and goodwill in amounts which may be impossible to determine,” the company said in the filing, providing three emails addressed to its employees from an RIM recruitment specialist.
Motorola is seeking a court-ordered injunction barring RIM from soliciting or hiring any of its employees, as well as more than $50,000 in damages.
