MobiTV, a popular mobile television service, has reached a deal with Disney-ABC Television Group to make a number of popular ABC shows, such as Desperate Housewives and Ugly Betty available over the wireless airwaves.
MobiTV, which has partnerships with AT&T and Sprint Nextel in the U.S. and serves over 4 million users globally, will offer full-length episodes of popular ABC shows the day after they air, as well as on-demand programming from ABC Mobile.
“Partnering with MobiTV to offer primetime shows on mobile phones expands ABC Mobile’s distribution in the marketplace,” commented senior VP digital video distribution for Disney and ESPN, Matt Murphy. “We are thrilled to be able to provide fans of ABC with additional opportunities to catch up on their favorite shows.”
MobiTV currently offers upward of 40 channels of video content – including live TV, made-for-mobile programming, and video on demand – from NBC, ESPN, Discovery Networks, and other partners.
