U.S. VoIP Market to Grow 14% Annually for Next Five Years: Pike & Fischer

Demand for VoIP services in the United States will continue to see significant growth over the next two years, with 8.5 million more Americans expected to sign-up for IP phone offerings within that time frame, according to a recent report by Pike & Fischer’s Broadband Advisory Service.
The report, entitled “Residential VoIP Market Outlook,” projects a 14% growth rate for the VoIP market over the next five years, and predicts that 30 million U.S. households will use some form of VoIP by the end of 2010.
This projection takes into account the rapid growth of digital service bundles, which offer multichannel video, high-speed internet, and home phone service for a single monthly price. Such bundles are now available from most U.S. cable providers, as well as through fiber-optic telecom networks like AT&T U-verse.
Independent VoIP providers such as Vonage stand to gain less from ongoing VoIP growth, however, due to their inability to offer bundled services.
