Google Voices Opposition to Canadian Internet Regulation

Internet search and media giant, Google Inc., has expressed strong opposition to the CRTC’s recent proposal to regulate web content in Canada, saying that such an action would take away from the experience that users have come to expect from new media.
“The Commission should resist the temptation to try to fix what is not broken,” Google said in a submission to the regulatory body, responding to a request for public input. “Without regulation the Canadian broadcasting policy objectives have been, and will continue to be, implemented on the Internet. The New Media Exemption is the best regulatory approach to keeping the Internet awesome.”
Google’s submission was one of almost 100 filed with the CRTC by individuals and corporations that live or do business in Canada. Most of the opinions reportedly echoed the web giant’s opposition to the new regulatory measures.
The CRTC plans to hold public hearings on the issue in February before making a decision on how to proceed.

This is the first step to eliminate the internet. The idea for the government to regulate the internet is really to ‘control’ the internet. Similar to the control they have over all news outlets, such as Fox, CNN, NBC, BBC, etc., etc., etc.. I’ve always said the internet will not make it because the government has no control. ‘Global Governance’ doesn’t want the people of the world to have access to the truth, just spin and propaganda.

Thanks for your comment, H. Allen.
I completely agree that the internet, if nothing else, needs to remain a free and open media outlet. That’s what most Canadians (and most citizens of the free world) want. But will governments listen?

The U.S. Federal Government has absolutely no integrity, they will eventually control the internet for the good of everyone. Even if they say no control they’ll just use keystroke loggers or a stealth system to capture the info they need/want. Some computers being sold today have keystroke loggers installed without the knowledge of the consumer.
