Telecom giant, Bell Canada, is offering a special retirement incentive in a move to trim its workforce by an additional 1,500 jobs.

Bell, which employs some 41,000 people, is offering the incentive to workers who are already eligible to retire in the next two years.

“This initiative supports Bell’s strategic imperative to achieve a competitive cost structure,” said Bell Canada president and CEO, George Cope. “It also thanks many of Bell’s longest-serving team members for their service by allowing them to take a financially secure retirement even earlier than they may have planned.”
