LG Canada is recalling as many as 129,000 LG 150 cell phones after the device was found to emit more radiation than the legal limit set by Industry Canada.

“Because customer satisfaction and safety continue to be our primary commitment, we are taking a proactive approach and working in co-operation with our carriers to recall all LG 150 phones in Canada,” said LG Canada CEO, William Cho, in a statement.

Those who have purchased LG 150 handsets have the opportunity to exchange them for a replacement until March 31, according to the company.

The recall is strictly precautionary, and LG 150 handsets pose no know health risk to those who have used them, according to Health Canada officials.

“Based on the review of test results and an assessment of current science, the past and current use of the LG 150 should not pose immediate or long-term health concerns,” said Stephane Shank, a spokeswoman for the agency.
