Just days after licensing a wealth of intellectual property to Samsung Electronics, Ottawa-based Wi-LAN Inc. has reached a patent deal with Pantech & Curitel Communications Inc., another Korean cell phone manufacturer.
Pantech has signed a multi-year agreement relating to “certain patents of Wi-LAN in the area of wireless technology,” according to a statement by Wi-LAN. Specific terms of this agreement were not disclosed.
Pantech is currently the third largest handset maker in South Korea (behind Samsung and LG), and manufactures a number of devices for American carriers such as Verizon Wireless and AT&T.
