Coras Radio Launches Free iPhone Application

Corus Entertainment has launched a free software application allowing Apple iPhone and iPod Touch users to tune into any of its 52 AM and FM radio stations across Canada.
“Our radio stations need to be available wherever our listeners are, and on any device they choose to use,” commented Corus Radio vice president, David Huszar. “With the increasing popularity of the iPhone and iPod Touch as the device of choice for portable entertainment, we’re thrilled to offer our listeners the convenience of accessing their favourite Corus radio station through them.”
Users who download the 1.1-Megabyte application can search stations by their call letters or use the “shake the shuffle” by shaking their device and moving to a random Corus channel.
The Coras software begins streaming radio content very quickly (within a second of pressing play), according to DigitalHome.ca. On the downside, however, it does not work alongside other applications, which makes it impossible to listen to the radio on your iPhone while playing a game or surfing the web.
