Mosaid Technologies Inc., an Ottawa-based intellectual property firm, has resolved patent disputes with Nokia Corp. and Micron Technology Inc.
Mosaid has licensed wireless technology and other patents to Finnish handset giant, Nokia. Financial terms of this deal were not released.
“Nokia, the world leader in the mobile phone industry, is the first major vendor of Wi-Fi enabled handsets to license Mosaid’s wireless patents,” said Mosaid CEO, John Lindgren in a news release. “This agreement confirms the strength of our fundamental wireless patents, which apply to a wide range of Wi-Fi enabled products and systems, including smart phones, laptop computers, gaming consoles and wireless infrastructure products, such as Wi-Fi routers.”
As for the dispute with Micron Technology, Mosaid has settled an outstanding lawsuit by granting the company a 10-year license to a number of patents relating to DRAM, flash, and other memory-related products. In return, Mosiad will acquire title to 400 of Micron’s patents.
“By settling the litigation and signing a patent licence agreement with Micron, one of the world’s largest DRAM producers, we have achieved our goal of licensing virtually 100 per cent of the global commodity DRAM market to our patents,” Lindgren explained.
