NTT DoCoMo Pulls RIM’s BlackBerry Bold Device on Overheating Concerns

Japan’s leading wireless carrier, NTT DoCoMo, has temporarily stopped selling Research In Motion’s BlackBerry Bold smartphone, after complaints of the device’s keyboard overheating during recharging.
The root cause of this problem has not yet been isolated, but is not related to battery malfunction, Research In Motion said in a statement. Blackberry Bold devices sold outside of Japan are not affected by the malfunction, RIM assured.
DoCoMo has sold approximately 4,000 Bold smartphones since launching the device last week. About 30 users have complained of overheating so far.
Research In Motion is working with DoCoMo to resolve the problem and hopes to resume sales in Japan in the near future.
