Canadian radio broadcaster, Corus Entertainment, has launched a new mobile content application, this time for BlackBerry and Windows Mobile smartphones.
Developed by mobile software provider, Viigo, the new program will deliver content from nine Corus radio stations including AM640, 102.1 the Edge, and Q107 in Toronto; AM900 CHML in Hamilton; CJOB 68 in Winnipeg; go.90 and AM 770 in Calgary; iNews880 in Edmonton; and CKNW AM 980 and 630 CHED in Vancouver.
This is an attempt to increase listener loyalty by combining new media with a traditional medium, according to David Huszar, general manager of interactive and integrated solutions at Corus.
“Radio is the original wireless technology,” Huszar said. “It’s the old style, but I think advent of the Internet was a real boon for radio because it’s [enabled] interacting with audiences in the same way.”
