Research In Motion has released new details this week about its forthcoming mobile software store, ‘BlackBerry App World.’

Similar to Apple’s popular App Store, the BlackBerry marketplace will feature both free and paid software applications. Developers wishing to sell software will be able to price their applications from $2.99 to $999.99 (in $1 increments).

BlackBerry users will be able to back up their entire library of downloaded applications using the MyWorld feature.

“In the event a user runs low on storage space, wipes their device, or moves to a new device, the user can use MyWorld to re-download the applications they’ve previously paid for without having to re-purchase them,” Research In Motion explained on its website.

App World will be available on BlackBerry smartphones running OS version 4.2.0 or higher. This includes the BlackBerry Pearl, Curve, Bold, and Storm devices.

RIM has yet to announce a launch date for the service.
