Wireless device manufacturer, Palm Inc., has announced plans to release its much-anticipated touchscreen smartphone product, the Palm Pre, in Canada later this year.

The Pre will feature a new mobile operating system called webOS, and is being touted as a potential comeback for Palm, which has struggled to compete with the Apple iPhone and Research In Motion BlackBerry devices.

The Palm Pre will be available through Bell Mobility in Canada, starting sometime in the second half of 2009. In the U.S., it will be sold by Sprint Nextel and may be available as soon as June 5, according to some rumours.
