Rogers Wireless to Charge for Incoming Text Messages
11:48 pm on May 6, 2009 | Category: Telecom Services, Wireless, Messaging
Canada’s leading cell phone carrier, Rogers Wireless, has announced plans to follow Bell and Telus in charging $0.15 for incoming text messages.
The change in pricing, which takes effect on July 7, will bring Rogers into step with most other North American wireless providers. This will effectively double the company’s revenue from pay-per-use SMS customers, but will also end a short-lived competitive advantage that Rogers enjoyed over its Canadian rivals.
Customers of the company’s discount wireless division, Fido, will not be affected by the change, according to Rogers spokeswoman, Liz Hamilton.

I was going to switch to Rodgers from Telus because Telus was charging for all incoming text and most of mine were “wrong number” or misdirected text messages.
Now what do we do?
