Just two weeks after releasing iPhone OS 3.0, Apple is already testing another update for its popular mobile operating system.

The company has released a beta version of iPhone OS 3.1 for software developers. In addition to improving speed and performance, the new version reportedly includes the ability to edit mobile video clips without overwriting the original copy, as well as Bluetooth voice control, and new fraud protection features for the Safari web browser.

Apple hasn’t said when the new operating system will be publicly available, but if history is any guide, it should be sometime in the next few weeks. (iPhone OS 2.1 was released in September 2008, two months after the base operating system became available.)
