Cogeco Cable has launched Ontario’s first 50-Mbps residential broadband service.
The new package, called HSI Ultimate, offers 50-Mbps downloads, 1.5-Mbps uploads, and a monthly download capacity of 150 Gigabytes. It costs $149.95 per month, including the rental of a Docsis 3.0 cable modem.
HSI Ultimate is initially available in Burlington, Oakville, Milton, and Halton, Ontario, and will be extended to other Ontario and Quebec markets in the months to come.
Canada’s leading cable operator, Rogers Communications, is planning to launch its own 50-Mbps broadband service in the Greater Toronto Area in mid-September. Videotron and Shaw Communications already offer comparable 50-Mbps services in parts of Quebec and Western Canada.
