Advanced cell phone features such as gaming, web browsing, and digital photography are gaining popularity in Britain, according to a recent survey by Lightspeed Research.

Non-voice features were initially seen as unnecessary by many users, but are now present on the vast majority of mobile phones, and are becoming a big hit with consumers.

38% of British wireless users now take digital photos with a mobile phone at least once a week, while 22% surf the internet, 22% play games, and 18% send a photo or video.

Text messaging, however, remains the most popular non-voice application, with 49% of British survey respondents sending at least one SMS message a day.
