Research In Motion Tops Fortune List of Fastest-Growing Companies

Waterloo, Ontario-based Research In Motion, maker of the popular BlackBerry device, is currently the world’s fastest growing company, according to a recent report in Fortune Magazine.

Fortune publishes a list of the world’s 100 fastest-growing firms once a year. Its rankings are based on a combination of profit, revenue, and return on investment over a period of three years.

In recent years, Research In Motion has taken aggressive steps to expand internationally, and has developed a strong presence in the fast-growing consumer smartphone market. The company’s profits have grown 84% over the past three years, while revenue has increased 77%, and investors have seen a 45% return on investment.
