American wireless giant, Sprint, has announced plans to offer a new eco-friendly smartphone from Samsung.

The Samsung Reclaim is built with corn-based bio-plastics and 80% of its parts are recyclable. $2 from each sale will be donated to the Nature Conservancy’s land conservation efforts.

“We are proud of the Reclaim and the progress it reflects,” said Sprint CEO, Dan Hesse, at a press conference this morning. “Samsung Reclaim enables customers to go green while getting the latest in wireless technology.”

In terms of features, the Reclaim has a sliding QWERTY keyboard, 3G data support, and a 2-megapixel camera with a 3X digital zoom and video recording functionality. It also comes equipped with a built-in GPS receiver, complimented by Sprint Navigation software.

The Samsung Reclaim will be available at Sprint, Best Buy, and Radio Shack outlets throughout the U.S. beginning on August 16. It will cost $49.99 on a three-year Sprint contract.
