Telus to Expand Retail Presence with Black’s Acquisition
5:53 pm on September 8, 2009 | Category: Business, Mobile Devices, Corporate
Vancouver-based telecom giant, Telus Corp., has agreed to buy out Blacks Photo Corp., a photo processing retailer, for C$28 million.
The 79-year-old Black’s has 113 retail outlets across Canada and is currently owned by ReichmannHauer Capital Partners.
Telus’ acquisition of the chain will allow it to market high-end camera phone products to photography enthusiasts. It will also expand the company’s retail presence, enabling it to better compete with Bell Mobility, which acquired The Source, a 750-outlet consumer electronics chain, earlier in the summer.
