Telus Mobility revealed this morning that it has an exclusive deal to sell an adapted version of Motorola’s ‘Droid’ smartphone in Canada.
The Canadian version will be re-branded as the ‘Motorola Milestone,’ and will operate on Telus’ new HSPA mobile broadband network. Like the American Droid, the Milestone will feature a 3.7-inch touchscreen display, sliding QWERTY keyboard, 5-megapixel digital camera, built-in Wi-Fi, and an Android 2.0 operating system.
“With Motorola Milestone, Canadians will no longer be limited in what they can do with their smartphones,” commented Rick Gadd, the vice president of Motorola’s Canadian division. “They will experience the Web the way they’ve always wanted on a mobile device, with lightning fast speeds and pages that show them more.”
Telus plans to begin offering the Motorola Milestone in early 2010. Pricing details have not yet been released.
