Telus Wins Injunction Against Rogers’ ‘Most Reliable Network’ Claim

Vancouver-based telecommunications giant, Telus Corp., has won a court injunction against leading wireless rival, Rogers, preventing it from advertising its network as “Canada’s most reliable.”
Telus argued in B.C. Supreme Court that the claim was no longer valid in light of a comparable 3G wireless network launched by itself and Bell Mobility earlier this month.
“We’re pleased but not surprised by the ruling,” commented Telus’ senior communications manager, Shawn Hall. “Our interest is in having Rogers remove this false, misleading, and harmful claim from their advertising.”
Rogers said in a statement that it was “perplexed” by the decision, claiming that its network is still the most reliable in Canada even if new rival networks are just as fast. It has filed to re-argue the case before the B.C. Court of Appeal.
