Wireless service provider, Virgin Mobile, has announced plans to begin selling the Apple iPhone “in the coming months,” which would make it the fifth Canadian carrier to offer the popular smartphone.

The iPhone was initially made available in Canada by Rogers Wireless and its subsidiary, Fido, in July 2008, and recently became available through rival carriers, Bell and Telus.

All of these carriers currently sell the iPhone 3G for approximately $100, and the faster iPhone 3GS for approximately $200, on a three-year service agreement. Virgin has not yet indicated what they plan to charge for the device.
