Swedish telecommunications carrier, TeliaSonera, has debuted the world’s first commercially-available 4G wireless network, providing lightning fast mobile broadband access using Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology.

The new network offers wireless data speeds of 20-Mbps to 80-Mbps and is aimed at laptop users who want fast mobile internet access on the go. It is initially available in Stockholm, Sweden and Oslo, Norway and will be extended to 25 Swedish cities and three Norwegian cities by the end of next year.

“We will continue the rollout to offer our customers new communication services for the future,” said the head of TeliaSonera’s mobile services division, Kenneth Karlberg, in a statement. “The use of mobile broadband in the Nordic countries is exploding and customers need higher speeds and capacity.”
