Nokia Siemens to Build 3G Wireless Network for SaskTel
4:22 pm on January 14, 2010 | Category: Business, Wireless Technology, Telecom Services, Wireless, Cellular
Saskatchewan’s incumbent telecom carrier, SaskTel, has contracted Nokia Siemens Networks to built a new third-generation HSPA mobile broadband network in the prairie province.
Nokia Siemens will provide the core infrastructure for the network, as well as mobile soft switching and subscriber management systems.
SaskTel currently operates a CDMA2000 EV-DO mobile data network, and recently signed an agreement to share the joint HSPA network launched by Bell and Telus in November. Having its own HSPA network, however, will equip SaskTel for a smooth transition to fourth-generation Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology in the years to come.

Sasktel had 2 years to get there act together on a 3G network & there just doing something now ? Why does Bell & Telus have there networks up & running already. This is disappointing coming from a company that use to be a technological leader (fiber optics) . Sask government is running this company into the ground.
