Halifax, Nova Scotia-based TetherBerry, which offers broadband tethering software for BlackBerry devices, is re-branding itself simply as “Tether” as it prepares to extend the software to Google Android-based smartphones.

The Tether application is available via BlackBerry AppWorld and has already been installed on more than 60,000 BlackBerry devices. The software is described as “an application that allows your PC to take advantage of your BlackBerry smartphone’s data plan, allowing you to access the internet on your laptop anywhere there is cellular coverage from your BlackBerry.”

In order to celebrate the re-branding, Tether is currently available for just C$27.21, or 50% off its normal price.
