A 2005 version of the classic puzzle game, Tetris, is the most popular mobile download of all time, according to new research by EA Mobile and Blue Planet Software.

The game has been downloaded a total of over 100 million times, making it the first mobile title to reach this impressive milestone.

“Tetris is the biggest franchise in mobile gaming, which speaks to the evergreen nature of the brand and the fact that it translates to any platform,” said EA Mobile vice president, Adam Sussman.

The first version of Tetris was created in 1984 by Russian-born computer engineer, Alexey Pajitnov, and gained widespread popularity several years later after appearing on Nintendo’s Game Boy device.
