Canadian telecom giant and Olympic sponsor, Bell Canada, has released a free virtual cowbell application to drum up excitement about the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, which begin in Vancouver tomorrow.

The novelty application simply displays a large cowbell, which rings whenever you shake, tap, or click your device (depending on model). It is available for the Apple iPhone 3G/3GS, Samsung Omnia, and a range of BlackBerry Bold, Storm, Tour, and Pearl smartphones.

Bell customers can download the application by texting “COWBELL” to 2010, while non-Bell users can pick it up at www.bell.ca/cowbell.
