Telus to Spend $650-Million on Alberta Network Improvement

Vancouver-based telecommunications giant, Telus Corp., announced yesterday that it plans to spend $650 million on improving its fixed-line and wireless broadband networks in Alberta.

The investment in wireline infrastructure, which will take place over the course of 2010, will allow Telus to offer faster broadband access, as well as high-definition IPTV services in more parts of the province.

Wireless enhancements, meanwhile, will extend the reach and speed of Telus’ mobile broadband network, allowing it to compete more effectively with new rivals such as WIND Mobile, Public Mobile, and Mobilicity.
