Satellite radio operator, XM Canada, announced today that it is releasing a software application for BlackBerry smartphone users.

Beginning on April 12, Canadians with a BlackBerry Curve, Bold, or Storm device will be able to tune into XM radio via the “XM online+” BlackBerry app.

“Soon you’ll be able to enjoy premium-quality audio on your BlackBerry device. With XM online+ you’ll have access to the music, talk, sports and entertainment you want wherever you want it. Just hit play and enjoy,” XM Canada said in a statement.

The XM online+ application will be available at no cost for the first 14 days. After that, it will cost $7.99/month, or $2.99/month with an existing XM satellite radio subscription.
