Bell and Shaw Offer 3-D Coverage of Masters Golf Tournament
7:42 pm on April 11, 2010 | Category: Telecom Services, Television
Bell Canada and Shaw Communications broadcast parts of this weekend’s Masters golf tournament in 3-D, making them the first Canadian pay-TV operators to take advantage of the new technology.
Very few subscribers were able to take advantage of the three-dimensional show, given that 3-D-enabled televisions have only been commercially available in Canada for about two weeks. Samsung was the first company to launch a 3-D TV in this country, but other manufacturers have announced plans to follow suit in the near future.
“3-D TV is very new technology, and few 3-D sets are in Canadian homes now,” admitted Bell senior vice president, Heather Tulk. “We’ll continue to expand our 3-D TV lineup as more quality content becomes available.”
