Canadian electronics retailer, Future Shop, has begun offering Research In Motion’s BlackBerry Bold 9700 device in a white colour scheme.

The smartphone costs $149.99 on a three-year Rogers Wireless contract, and Future Shop is willing to throw in a free $50 gift card for customers that buy the Bold 9700 at one of their stores.

The seemingly oxymoronic “white BlackBerry” first made an appearance in 2007 when T-Mobile USA started selling the BlackBerry Pearl in a white casing. Since then the same strategy has been applied to the BlackBerry Curve 8520 and Bold 9000 device, increasingly putting the choice of colour into the hands of consumers.
