Apple’s much-anticipated iPhone 4 device will go on sale across Canada this Friday (July 30), and as promised, Apple will offer an unlocked version of the new phone, free from contractual obligations.

Unlike the units sold by carriers, the unlocked iPhone will allow consumers to shop around and negotiate a monthly plan with a service provider of their choice.

A 16GB, unlocked version of the iPhone 4 will sell for $659, while a 32GB model will be priced at $779. Leading carriers, such as Rogers, Bell, and Telus, have yet to announce pricing details for the iPhone 4.
