Japanese research and development firm, Eamex, has reportedly discovered a new way to increase the lifespan of lithium-ion batteries.

By using a different process to stabilize a battery’s electrodes, researchers claim that lithium-ion batteries could be made to last up to ten times longer and withstand over 10,000 recharges.

If and when this technology materializes, it could have a huge impact on the smartphone market, as device manufacturers strive for longer battery life to satisfy application-hungry consumers.
