Wind Mobile is on the verge of launching the BlackBerry Pearl 9100 and Motorola Milestone XT720 smartphones, according to rumours in Canada’s technology blogosphere.
Wind already sells the BlackBerry Bold 9700 and Huawei U8100 devices, meaning that the Pearl 9100 and Milestone XT720 will be the carrier’s second BlackBerry and Android-based smartphones, respectively.
The Pearl 9100 is a consumer-focused smartphone with integrated 3G and 802.11n Wi-Fi capabilities, as well as a 624-MHz processor and 3.2-megapixel digital camera. It is smaller and more compact than the Bold 9700, without a built-in QWERTY keyboard.
The Milestone XT720 will be Wind’s highest-end device to date with a 3.7-inch touchscreen display, 8-megapixel digital camera, 10.2-Mbps 3G broadband capability, and Google Android 2.1 operating system.
Wind is expected to launch the Pearl 9100 in the coming days at an off-contract price point of $320, with the Milestone XT720 set to follow shortly thereafter.
