SaskTel Unveils Improved IPTV Platform
7:09 pm on September 3, 2010 | Category: Telecom Services, Television
Saskatchewan’s incumbent telephone provider, SaskTel, has announced plans to upgrade its digital television service.
Improvements to the TV platform, announced yesterday, include an improved interactive program guide that “mimics a web experience” and more advanced DVR features, including multi-room access to recorded programming.
“We felt this was the right way to go,” commented SaskTel’s IPTV marketing manager, Glenda Heavisides. “With convergence in the industry with the ability to access content from several different screens, whether it be your TV, your mobile device or the Internet, we see that being really important to access the content they want from anywhere they want.”
New digital TV subscribers in Regina and Saskatchewan will be able to order the new platform starting on September 13. For existing customers, the new features will be rolled out on a city-by-city basis over the next several months.
