Cell Phone Contract Information
One thing that makes a lot of people nervous when buying their first mobile phone is having to lock into a mandatory plan or contract for one, two, or even three years.
A little known fact, however, is that most providers do have some sort of grace period – usually two weeks – in which you can return your phone, or change features, if you are unhappy with the plan that you chose. During this period, you can make almost any changes you want without incurring hefty contract cancellation penalties that can often run over $100.
When ordering a new plan, it is important to discuss with your provider what kind of return or exchange policy they have before you sign a contract with them. That way, you will have the peace of mind of knowing that what you’re agreeing to isn’t necessarily written in stone quite yet.
Of course, the grace period will vary considerably depending on the provider. If your provider doesn’t offer a return policy that’s acceptable to you, there’s always the option of avoiding a contract altogether by using TracFone or another prepaid wireless carrier.
