HSDPA Mobile Broadband Technology

  • High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) is a 3.5G cellular broadband standard, which allows users to surf the internet, download music and videos, and even make VoIP calls over the internet from any compatible mobile phone.
  • HSDPA services are currently available from Cingular Wireless in the United States, Rogers Wireless in Canada, and numerous other providers in Europe and Asia.
  • At this point in time, most HSDPA deployments offer downstream bandwidth of either 1.8 or 3.6 Mbps, but future networks could theoretically provide download speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps.
